Beagle reunites passengers with things left on the plane

The newest employee at KLM is a beagle named Sherlock. His job is to reunite passengers with things they have left on the airline’s planes, using his sniffing powers to find the owner. Some items are returned even before people miss them.

Every week, KLM gets around 40,000 questions via social media, and one of the most asked questions is about reclaiming lost items. This inspired it to set up a dedicated Lost & Found team, of which Sherlock is a part.

Beagles are not new at airports around the world, but the airline says that what makes Sherlock stand out is that his presence in designed to dispel any sense of unease some travellers may feel when a dog starts snooping around their luggage.
