KLM flights hit by ground crew strike

Strike comes as KLM posts rise in profits
KLM ground staff are on strike on Thursday as part of a long-running dispute over working conditions and pay. The dispute affects around 14,500 employees, but it is unclear how many flights will be affected.
“We will do all we can to minimise disruption to passengers,” a spokesman for the airline said.
Ground staff are demanding more pay, more permanent jobs for temporary staff and to keep a policy of additional holidays for older staff. KLM rejected a union ultimatum earlier this week.
On Wednesday, KLM posted a second quarter net profit of €41 million, up from a €79 million loss for the same period last year.
