KLM deploys emoji signs on Messenger

Airline promises to help users in unknown places
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is again boosting its reputation as a pioneer in the realm of social media, this time by introducing a new emoji service on Messenger that makes it easy for users to find their way in an unknown city.
If a user is looking for the nearest ATM, train station, café or clothing store, they can send the matching emoji to KLM with their current location and the airline instantly replies with the nearest address. For a nearby Italian restaurant, an emoji pizza slice and user’s location are enough to find one.
“We believe we should be where our customers are and therefore KLM and Messenger are the perfect fit,” says Tjalling Smit, senior vice president for e-commerce.
“Since March last year we offer our customers the option to receive all relevant flight documentation and information in one single Messenger overview. KLM flies people all over the world and knows how difficult it can be to quickly find your way in unknown places, and therefore offering this new emoji service is a logic next step.”
