Breathtaking desert views, an award winning restaurant and a 26,000-gallon infinity edge saltwater pool are just a few of the treats that await guests at Kimpton’s newest hotel, the Amara Resort and Spa in Sedona, Arizona.
The boutique luxury hotel chain announced the purchase of the leading Arizona boutique resort this week, making it the third Kimpton hotel in Arizona. Kimpton has experienced strong growth in urban metropolitan areas across the nation for the last decade, and lately has come to focus more on opportunities in leisure resort destinations.
“The Amara Resort and Spa is an exciting addition to our collection because it represents a new direction for the Kimpton brand with an increasing focus on the leisure market,” says Karin Gert Nielsen, Managing Director of Kimpton Hotels in Scandinavia and Finland. “Arizona is a very desirable destination for Nordic travelers for its ideal weather, stunning desert views and serene environment. It’s a perfect addition to our growing roster of resort hotels, adding to hotels we already have open or in development in places like South Beach, Miami, Aspen and Palm Springs.”
Amara Resort and Spa completed a $2 million renovation in September 2012. The renovations included upgrades to the resort’s restaurant, outdoor event space, fitness center and lobby. Amara Resort and Spa has already begun to offer Kimpton’s popular complimentary perks, such as the hosted evening wine hour from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., coffee and tea service in the living room lobby daily, in-room yoga mats, loaner bikes, and the company’s pet friendly policies.
Kimpton’s portfolio now includes 59 hotels and 68 restaurants, bars and lounges in 25 cities across the U.S.
