Kenya airport still working after fire

BA cancels flight, Kenya Airways still flying

The Kenya Tourism Board says that order is being restored at Nairobi’s main airport following the devastating fire that shut it down yesterday.

A spokeswoman for the tourism board said a Kenya Airways flight from London landed this morning in Nairobi as scheduled. Passengers are being processed through the domestic terminal.

Passengers in transit are being checked in to hotels in Nairobi. Around 200 Kenya Airways passengers stuck in Mombasa were driven to the capital’s airport. Passengers due to travel with British Airways to Nairobi were given the option to re-book after their flight yesterday was cancelled.

“Ground handler transportation is equipped to travel long distances throughout Kenya,” the spokeswoman said. “Ground handlers are therefore working to transport their diverted passengers to their intended destination within Kenya as soon as possible.”

A Kuoni spokeswoman said its operations team were contacting customers due to fly to Kenya and their itineraries changed where necessary.
