The five-star Kempinski Hotel Cathedral Square in Vilnius Lithuania, celebrates its second anniversary. The hotel was established in 2012 in the Old Town of Vilnius managed by Kempinski Hotels, one of the oldest European luxury hotel chains.
During the second year of operation the Hotel appointed a new General Manager – Mr. Kees Heuveling. During his career, Mr. Hueveling has developed a strong background in food and beverage management by working in various properties in the Middle East, Asia and Europe.
The Hotel has also appointed a new Executive Chef Javier Lopez. Born in Barcelona, Javier gained a wealth of international experience with more than 16 years of previous work in Michelin-starred restaurants in Spain, Belgium and France. He has also hosted many culinary events in countries such as Iceland, Malta, Sweden, Mauritius and Russia. His Spanish origin, his travels and his experiences in Lithuania gave birth to his own unique style. His contribution to the local gastronomy will enable Vilnius to be included on the map of haute cuisine.
In the summer the roof of the Hotel became home to the Kempinski Bee Suite – a half-populated beehive with around 30,000 bees. The beehive produced around 35 kg of natural raw honey. After an examination of the quality of it, the honey was placed on the menu to be used for its guests.
