Airport security to be facilitated for nationals and expats in Qatar
An iris scanner will soon speed up airport security checks at Doha Airport in Qatar, according to press reports, although no date is given for the system to come into operation. Qatar residents whose irises have already been scanned and are in the system will be able to go through to their gates without further formalities.
“Once the iris scan facility becomes fully operational, I do not think their passports will be checked,” Akbar Al Baker, Qatar Airways’ chief executive officer, told the Qatari daily Gulf Times. “This is because the iris scan will show whether a passenger can exit or enter the country. All the information will be in the database.”
