Hotels will not have Ikea name, and will be run by hotel operator

Inter Ikea, the company that owns the intellectual property rights of the iconic Swedish furniture retailer Ikea, is reported to be looking at sites throughout Europe with the aim of developing around 100 low-cost hotels across Europe. According to articles in the Financial Times, the hotels will not have the Ikea name, and they will be operated by an established hotel operator. The company aims to build the hotels particularly in countries where it is already active in property, such as the Netherlands, the UK and Poland.
“We will announce within a few weeks the first location for our budget hotel in Germany, and we are in talks with hotel operators to rapidly implement our concept,” Harald Müller, a senior manager at Inter Ikea’s property division, told Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
