Switch from Microsoft Office will represent a 30% saving on costs
InterContinental Hotels, the world’ biggest hotel company, has announced that it is changing its email system used by 25,000 employees from Microsoft Outlook to a system operated by Google. The new system, which IHG has been testing for several months, will be part of the Google Apps suite of products that the group uses. IHG says that change will result in a 30% saving on costs. While the cost of using Outlook is extremely variable, Google’s system costs a straightforward $50 per user per year for its apps users.
IHG says that Google also provides cheaper email storage space, a good calendar function and better assistance for documents.
