$80 million property to become centerpiece of Downtown Brooklyn
BROOKLYN, N.Y. – InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) today announced its newest hotel development for downtown Brooklyn, minutes from the famed Barclay’s Center, the Brooklyn Academy of Music and a variety of shopping and entertainment venues. In partnership with 300 Schermerhorn Realty LLC, the new-build $80 million Holiday Inn® hotel will join the neighborhood at 300 Schermerhorn Street. Construction is expected to complete by the end of 2014, with an anticipated opening in early 2015.
Owned by K.K. Mehta and his son Sanjeev Mehta, the Holiday Inn Brooklyn Nevins Station is their second IHG property in the metro New York area. The Mehta’s opened the first Staybridge Suites hotel for New York City in Times Square six years ago and the property continues to outpace its competitors.
At a press event and ground breaking in Brooklyn today, Kirk Kinsell, IHG President for the Americas region said, “We remain focused on strengthening Holiday Inn® brand presence through developing markets like Brooklyn. The contemporary 90,000-square-foot, 246-room hotel will have 15 floors with more than 3,000 square feet of meeting space including three meeting rooms and a ballroom. A sauna, steam room, indoor pool and a Jacuzzi and will be among the guest amenities. The new hotel will include features in keeping with the $1 billion Holiday Inn® global brand relaunch – the largest project of its kind in the hospitality history and will have an emphasis on arrival and welcome services, guestroom and guest bath comfort, and a redesigned logo and signage.

The hotel design will feature a familiar atmosphere that is warm, trend forward and comfortable. Guest beds will have crisp, white bedding with pillows that come in two comfort levels: “soft” and “firm.” Rooms will also include business-focused necessities such as an ergonomic workstation, data ports and complimentary USA TODAY® newspapers. The bathrooms will include a multifunctional showerhead, as well as a signature shower curtain with curved rod, and Bath & Body Works® amenities. Additionally, each room will have standard Holiday Inn guestroom accommodations – comfortable double, queen or king-sized beds, a sitting area with a lounge chair, hairdryer, micro fridge, coffee maker, iron and ironing board.
The hotel restaurant will offer the standard Holiday Inn Best-4-Breakfastâ menu, with signature items such as Rainforest Alliance™ Certified coffee, Cinnamon Supreme French Toast™ and Skillet Inspirations™. Kids 12 and younger eat free at Holiday Inn hotels when ordering from the kids’ menu in the hotel restaurant and accompanied by a dining adult. Room Service Right … On Time™, also a standard at all Holiday Inn hotels, will ensure that guests’ room service orders are accurate and delivered on time, every time.
