Hotel deals gather pace in Croatia

Investors sign up as country’s economy improves
The Balkans are attracting significant hotel investments. Hilton and St. Regis are planning to move into Serbia, but in Croatia many other big new-build and renovation projects are about to get underway.
Marriott has revealed plans to open four or five hotels in Croatia under various brands by 2020. Meanwhile, Four Seasons has signed a deal for a brand new, 120-room, mixed-use resort on Hvar Island. Due to open in 2019, the Four Seasons Resort Hvar will be positioned at Brizenica Bay.
Also on Hvar, the Hotel Pharos is investing millions in renovations aimed at attracting millennials, while large-scale renovations are planned too at the Hotel Slavia. Further on the Dalmatian coast, the Romana Hotel in Makarska and Medora Hotel in Podgora should open in June.
The Hotel Ambassador in central Split will open in early 2018, with around ‎€14 million having been invested.
The International Monetary Fund thinks the Croatian economy will grow by around 2% this year and up to 3.5% in 2017.
