High-speed railway in Thailand approved

Network to connect Thailand with Malaysia and Laos

Construction of a high-speed rail network to connect the regions and cities of Thailand, as well as linking the country with Malaysia and Laos, has been given the green light.
The seven-year project will see Thailand invest $68 billion in developing the network, which will consist of four lines and 200 high-speed trains running at up to 250km/hour. The network will connect Bangkok with regions in the north, south and east. The travel time between northern Thailand and Bangkok will be cut from 12 hours to four hours.
