Finnish airport workers settle pay dispute
More strikes at Helsinki Airport have been avoided, thanks to a deal between Finnish aviation industry union IAU and business representatives on airport workers’ wages and benefits.
A 30-hour round of negotiations ended late on Monday as conciliator Minna Helle revealed details about the settlement. The union had previously threatened a new strike on Wednesday.
The three-year deal covers Finland’s two biggest airports, Helsinki and Oulu. IAU’s strikes in Helsinki in early March grounded more than 200 Finnair flights, among others.
