From the solitude of stark desert landscapes to vibrant rolling green hills, lazy days on sun-bleached beaches to the buzz of cosmopolitan cities, art galleries to tribal dancing – the southern tip of Africa offers something for everyone.
The multi-faceted kaleidoscope of sights, sounds, sunshine, tastes and experiences are what make South Africa a truly bucket-list travel destination. And thanks to a favourable exchange rate, it is within easy reach of every pocket, making it indisputably one of the world champion best value destinations.
With arrivals having grown by double digits in the first two months of this year, travellers looking for a touch of sophistication or a wild adventure have been quick to cotton on the amazing value for money that SA now offers. It’s almost like getting a free upgrade for your vacation.
To make it all the more enticing, Cape Town, the gateway to SA Wine Tourism, was just chosen as the best city in the world by the UK Telegraph Travel Awards for the fourth consecutive year (with SA third in the country rankings) AND as Best Food City in the world by CN Traveller.
NOW is clearly the time to plan your trip and make your bookings!
Excellent service standards, incredible weather and an awesome array of attractions and offerings have made SA and Cape Town the destination of choice. So what used to be your fantasy travel experience is now a reality, on a silver platter.
Wine Tourism South Africa’s Slice of SA is making it even easier – by highlighting the best of the best and guiding you through options, both on and off the beaten track, #SliceofSA is building the ultimate travel dream map to give you a preview of what you can expect from SA’s winelands. It offers convenience in the form of an easy-to-navigate pin board which makes planning your vacation almost as exciting as experiencing it.
It is a growing showcase, expanding as more and more travel and wine tourism brands in and around the stunning South African winelands sign up.
Over the course of more than 10 years, WTSA has carved out a firm foothold and gained an in-depth understanding of the SA wine tourism sector. It publishes the only comprehensive publication on South African wine tourism on the market – The Wine Tourism Handbook. In addition, they are the innovators behind the KLINK Wine Tourism Awards, which is SA’s first online, consumer-driven wine tourism initiative, now in its fifth year.
“During the time we’ve been developing our products, we have built up a substantial audience, first with our printed Wine Tourism Handbook – which is the ultimate guide to the winelands, and now, we offer a global showcase to South African wine tourism through interactive online platforms and social media,” says Monika Elias, founder of WTSA.
At the core of the Slice of SA campaign is an interactive image gallery on the WTSA homepage that offers a taster of the top 300 SA winelands tourism destinations and products, by presenting a ‘slice’ of the best of travel and tourism in this magnificent region.
“We are looking to highlight the extraordinary tourism offering of the SA winelands, so Slice of SA is a natural extension of our brand,” she concludes.
