Germany sets record for international arrivals

Germany sees 9% more international guests than last July
Germany set a new monthly record for tourist arrivals in July when it welcomed 10.3 million international visitors for overnight stays, 9% more than the same month last year.
That brings the total for the January-to-July period to 44.7 million overnights in accommodation facilities of at least 10 beds, according to the Federal Statistics Office, or 5.6% more than in the same period in 2014.
“Since November 2009, Germany’s incoming tourism has only been seen to go one way: up,” Petra Hedorfer, chief executive of the German National Tourist Board, said. “Germany’s popularity as a travel destination is growing stronger than the average, which is highlighted in July’s numbers.”
China was the biggest riser in July, with an additional 313,000, taking the total number to 1.4 million. Visitors from within Germany were up 6%, reaching 40.5 million.
