Fraport strike to continue until Friday

So far, 750 flights have been cancelled, $5 million lost

The walkout strikes of the German union GdF at Frankfurt Airport, which has continued since last Thursday, has so far resulted in 750 flights being cancelled. The union now says the strike will go on at least until this coming Friday. The union represents 200 apron control workers, who are locked in an ongoing pay dispute with airport operator Fraport. Yesterday, FRA handled 80% of its normal traffic, with around 200 flights cancelled. However, these are mostly short-haul routes; intercontinental flights are unaffected.
Nevertheless, Fraport tells Reuters that the strikes on Thursday, Friday and Monday have cost it $5 million in lost revenues.
