Lufthansa announces cancellation of 140 flights during Monday
The hugely damaging strike by airfield workers at Frankfurt Airport is continuing this week after Fraport and the trade union GdF failed to reach a pay deal. As the latest action began this morning, Lufthansa announced the cancellation of 140 flights during Monday. These are on mainly short- and medium-haul routes; around 80% of long-haul flights will not be affected.
Around 200 apron control staff have been striking since February 16, demanding higher pay, shorter working hours and more bonuses. Fraport says it has made concessions “on many points in the union’s extremely high demands”.
