Carrier believes it should get rid of unpopular “low-cost” fees
As it battles losses, Flybe has decided to try to boost its popularity amongst the public by scrapping debit card booking fees and bringing in incentives that could attract higher paying travellers. Measures like these, it believes, will give it an edge against its low-cost rivals. It will also introduce three ticket classes and access for higher paying passengers to airport lounges.
The regional airline is expected to post a loss of about £8.5m for 2012. In the wake of a sharp fall in the UK domestic market, Flybe is aiming at a bigger slice of the European regional market, including the Nordic countries. It hopes to raise revenues by flying more planes under contract for bigger carriers.
