Limited domestic services begin, international to follow

More than a month after the devastating earthquake and tsunami hit Japan, the first passenger aircraft landed today at Sendai Airport, which has now partially resumed domestic flights. The tsunami flooded the runways scattering them with debris and overran the terminal building.
The aircraft, flying from Tokyo Haneda, was operated by Japan Airlines. Airport staff personally came out to greet the passengers. Initially there will be six flights a day. Many of the passengers using Sendai in the coming weeks are expected to be volunteers assisting in areas affected by the disaster. International flights could resume by September
