Airline to operate route throughout summer schedule
Finnair will begin a seasonal non-stop service to Hanoi in Vietnam next summer, continuing the airline’s focus on traffic between Asia and Europe. It will be the airline’s 12th destination in Asia (after Bangkok, Beijing, Chongqing, Delhi, Hong Kong, Nagoya, Osaka, Seoul, Shanghai, Singapore and Tokyo). According to the airline, if the planned new service gets the required regulatory approvals, it will make the Finnish carrier the only European airline to offer a direct link between Europe and the Vietnamese capital.
Starting June 14, Finnair will launch flights to Hanoi’s Nội Bài International Airport from its hub at Helsinki-Vantaa with three round-trips per week. It will operate the route throughout its summer schedule, which lasts until October 27. Finnair is represented in Vietnam by East Sea Travel & Air Service Group.
“This is yet another important step for Finnair toward our long-term goal of doubling our Asian revenue by 2020,” Finnair CEO Mika Vehviläinen said.
Hanoi, which has a population of 6.5 million, is forecast by PricewaterhouseCoopers to have the world’s fastest growing economy between the years 2008 and 2025.
