oneworld partner American Airlines enables forward connections
Finnair says it will extend its Miami service to be year-round, starting from next April, with three weekly flights in summer 2016. It is also adding frequencies to Chicago, from three to five next summer.
“The Miami route has proven to be popular both for our northern European customers as well as for Miami-based customers, for whom we offer excellent connections to Scandinavia via Helsinki,” explained Juha Järvinen, the airline’s chief commercial officer.
Järvinen stressed that the new schedule would enable “excellent connections from Miami to our Asian destinations”. Finnair’s oneworld partner American Airlines has a hub in Miami that creates convenient connections to the Caribbean, Central and South America, he added.
Connectivity will also be improve beyond Chicago, to American Airlines’ network in the Americas. And on Finnair’s side the five-weekly service will connect well to Asia. Both destinations are served with the Finnish airline’s A330 aircraft.
Finnair’s Chicago and Miami services are included in the joint business on transatlantic traffic with fellow oneworld alliance partners British Airways, Iberia, American Airlines and American’s merger partner US Airways. The cooperating airlines also give customers the possibility to mix and match flights on different carriers.
