Finnair extends hand-luggage tickets to more routes

Ticket type Light already trialed in Scandinavia and Baltics
Finnair will soon be offering its new low-fare ticket Light within Europe and the Middle East, having already trialed it in Scandinavia. The ticket type is for passengers travelling only with hand luggage.
The lowest-fare option among Finnair’s ticket types, Light will be on offer on these routes from May 5, with the exception of Russia. They are also not available for long-haul intercontinental flights. All other tickets will continue to include checked-in luggage.
“Since we introduced Light fares on domestic, Scandinavian and Baltic routes last March, we have seen a positive reaction from customers who tend to travel without checked baggage, particularly from travellers on short trips,” explains Tomi Hänninen, vice president for revenue management and pricing.
“We are hopeful that by extending this offering in more markets, Finnair’s range of ticket types offers a suitable option for every type of traveller.”
