Project continues to investigate cost of rail link

A rail tunnel between the Finnish and Estonian capitals is still a possibility – but not until 2050. According to calculations, the project would cost up to €3 billion and actual construction would begin around that date. The Geological Survey of Finland, the Finnish geology centre, has now commissioned a survey to study possible routes, the Estonian daily Eesti Päevaleht writes.
The Estonian side has already completed a route study commissioned by Finland, which wants to benefit from extending the much-discussed Rail Baltica from Berlin via Poland and the Baltics to Helsinki.
