Fresh British Airways strikes for summer
Just three days after completing an ongoing 16-day strike in mid-July, British Airways cabin crew say they will walk out for a further 14 days from July 19, coinciding with the major part of the summer holidays.
More than 10,000 passengers are expected to be affected by the new strike, being carried out by mixed fleet cabin crew in a long-running pay dispute.
However, it is expected to affect only one in every 200 flights. BA says it will still be operating 99.5% of its fleet.
“Today’s announcement of a further escalation underlines the determination of our members in their fight for better pay and against British Airways’ bullying behaviour,” said Oliver Richardson of the union Unite. “We are seeing strong support for the ongoing strike action.”
