Frank Brenner, the Directory General of EUROCONTROL, has recently completed a four day visit to Ukraine during which he met with Mr Arseniy Yatsenyuk, the Prime Minister of Ukraine, and Mr Andriy Pyvovarskyi, the Minister for Infrastructure.
Mr Yatsenyuk expressed his gratitude for EUROCONTROL’s support for Ukraine in the implementation of the Single European Sky.
Ukraine has been a member of EUROCONTROL since 2004. Discussions with the government of Ukraine and with UkSATSE (the air navigation service provider) also covered the efforts being made to increase traffic over the west of Ukraine and the Black Sea, the forthcoming safety audit to be performed by EUROCONTROL and the participation of Ukraine in the Centralised Services initiative.
Mr Brenner also spoke to students at the National Aviation University in Kiev. He commented “Ukraine is a very important member of Europe’s aviation family and is a long-standing member of EUROCONTROL. It has been a privilege to come here and I see it as an important demonstration of the support that all our Member States provide for Ukraine at this difficult time.”
