Just seven Danes go on to second recruitment round
Emirates attempted to recruit Nordic employees for its cabins last week, but it was a sad affair according to the Norwegian newspaper Dagens Næringsliv. Just 20 people signed up for the recruitment event, which took place at the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. A mere seven went on to the second round where they went through further interviews.
Christina Siegfredsen, HR consultant at Emirates, was “disappointed with the turnout”, the newspaper wrote. “It is not easy to recruit in Scandinavia,” she said. “Unlike Singapore Airlines, where almost all the cabin staff are alike, we attach importance on having a multicultural staff to serve our customers.”
She added: “We are seeing so far mostly Swedes on our recruitment days, but there are few from Denmark and Norway.”
The airline is currently looking for 3,800 people for its cabin crews. “Just last week we held 30 recruitment events around the world,” Siegfredsen said. Emirates currently has 14,000 cabin staff – and over 220 more aircraft on order.
