Theme days to embrace “eco-mobility”, travel technology, marketing and Asia
ITB Berlin, which takes place this week on March 9-13, will be setting the tone for the year ahead in travel and tourism. During the first three of these days, travel trade professionals, experts, scientists and will be discussing new trends and survey findings.
One of the central highlights this year is the ITB Marketing and Distribution Days, which will discuss the latest strategies and practical examples of marketing tourism. The ITB Media Summit will take place again on March 11. Meanwhile, visitors to ITB Destination Days will be able to discover the latest information about cultural, city and river tours. The emerging markets in Asia are another key topic.
Taking place for the third time, the aim at ITB CSR Day is to satisfy a growing demand for discussion on corporate social responsibility issues in the tourism sector. Visitors will find out how CSR projects can be sensibly planned and implemented on a long-term basis. The other theme days, Future Day and Hospitality Day, will provide visitors with valuable ideas, best-practice examples and survey findings on the future of the travel and hotel sectors.
One new element at ITB in 2011 is Eco-Mobility Day, focussing on how tourism destinations could make use of the recent high-profile launches of eco-friendly electric vehicles. Another new development is free-of-charge attendance to the PhoCusWright Travel Technology sessions, which will offer visitors the chance to find out first-hand about internet, mobile technology and other tech trends of the future.
