EasyJet creates tour operator in new deal

Airline drops Lowcostbeds, picks up Tui’s Hotelopia

EasyJet Holidays says that Tui Travel online travel agent Hotelopia will serve as its new industry partner. This means the end of the airline’s agreement with Lowcostbeds and will also see it switch to a tour operator model.

Six new websites are planned in Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, France and the Netherlands as easyJet holidays relaunches itself across European countries where the airline has a large presence. The three-year-and-five-month deal with Hotelopia SLU starts in May.

Mandy Round, general manager of easyJet Holidays described this as “the next phase of development”, while Jon French, head of easyJet Holidays at Hotelopia, said: “It is a perfect partnership combining our extensive range of accommodations in Europe and our industry leading expertise with such a prestigious brand in the European travel industry. EasyJet has a clear roadmap for the next phase of its business development and we’re very proud to be part of this.”

As a result of the new partnership, easyJet Holidays and Hotelopia will be recruiting for up to 100 administrative, sales and call centre roles to be based from the new offices in Palma, Majorca.
