Dubai hotel portfolio to add 28,000 rooms by 2018

Starwood, Jumeirah Group and SUBA Hotels to open properties
Dubai is gearing up for impressive growth, with 28,000 new hotel rooms expected to join its hospitality portfolio by 2018, according to a new report released by Jones Lang LaSalle for The Hotel Show Dubai.
Starwood Hotels and Resorts has plans in the pipeline to double its portfolio in the Middle East in the following five years. It will also be marking the launch of its first W Hotel and St. Regis brands in Dubai by the end of this year. Alongside a new Westin, the three hotels are to be situated in the new Al Habtoor City complex.
Jumeirah Group has two properties slated to open in Dubai by 2017. These include the Jumeirah Al Naseem at Madinat Jumeirah and the first hotel under its Venu lifestyle brand, which will be opening off the coast of Dubai at the new Bluewaters Island. The Venu Bluewaters Island Hotel will comprise of almost 300 keys.
Meanwhile, SUBA Hotels has over 3,000 new keys entering the Dubai market in 2015 alone. Three new SUBA Hotels are set to open in the Middle East and Africa by 2017.
Adding to this, a number of existing hotels are going through major redevelopments and refurbishments to maintain their competitive edge.
