Dreamliner safety checks after fuel leaks

Inspection of all of Boeing 787 Dreamliners ordered

Inspection of all of Boeing’s new 787 Dreamliners has been ordered by the US Federal Aviation Administration following a series of fuel leaks due to a manufacturing flaw at Boeing’s plants. The safety order requires inspection of “fuel line couplings in the engine pylons”, Reuters writes, to ensure they have been assembled correctly.
In separate news this week, a mechanical problem forced a new United Airlines 787 Dreamliner with 184 people on board flying from Houston to Newark to make an emergency landing in New Orleans on Tuesday.
The two issues are a double blow to Boeing, whose earlier production problems delayed delivery of the 787 for more than three years.
