Minister: “Great news for the tourism industry”
The bathing waters around Denmark’s coast are cleaner than they’ve ever been, according to a new report by the European Environment Agency.
As much as 98.4% of the country’s coastal and inland bathing waters meet the agency’s sufficient water quality standards, while 85.7% have “excellent water quality”. That is Denmark’s best result since the waters started being tested.
“Bathing water quality in Denmark sets new records year after year. That’s great news for water lovers and the tourism industry,” Environment Minister Esben Lunde Larsen commented.
“We have thousands of kilometres of beautiful coasts and we once again have the EU’s word that the bathing water quality is tip-top.”
The trend across Europe appears to be that bathing waters are getting cleaner, with more than 96% meeting the EU’s minimum requirements for water quality.
