Demand from Europe and also India fuels flights and hotel stays

Thailand’s tourism authority has reported that incoming tourism from Europe and also India is growing quickly – and this is leading to the rapid growth in direct flights to the island destinations in and around Phuket. In turn, this is leading to a positive outlook for the region’s hotel industry. Passenger traffic to Phuket International Airport could rise to almost 8 million by the end of 2011. The phenomenon will continue into 2012, according to the Tourism Authority of Thailand.
The Indian market in particular has shown fast growth and arrivals from Europe are showing a resurgence. To meet demand, Kingfisher Airlines, for example, plans direct flights from New Delhi and Mumbai to Phuket from November. From Europe, charter flights are anticipated, for instance, from Warsaw in Poland.
