airBaltic expects slower deliveries of Bombardier plane
airBaltic still plans to launch Bombardier’s new CS300 aircraft into commercial service in 2016, but now it says it will receive fewer of them than originally planned.
The Latvian carrier had expected to take delivery of the world’s very first CS300, a larger version of the CSeries, at the end of October. That will now come later, but still in the fourth quarter.
Canadian manufacturer Bombardier is running behind with CSeries deliveries in 2016, saying it will deliver not 15 in total as planned but seven. It blames engine maker Pratt & Whitney for delays. But it does promise a third CS100 to CSeries launch operator Swiss next month.
airBaltic had planned to take delivery of six of the 145-seat CS300s in 2016, with 20 CS300s on firm order for delivery by 2020, expanding the fleet and replacing its Boeing 737-300s and -500s.
