Many visitors are disappointed with Denmark’s quality
Tivoli is still a big attraction for tourists, but a new state-sponsored report shows that visitors are generally disappointed with Denmark’s quality of service, food and tourist sites.
The report, written by a team of tourism executives, concludes that the struggling Danish tourism industry needs to considerably improve its products and services if it is to win more visitors.
“The nightmare scenario would be if Denmark as a tourist destination were to reach a point where it’s too late to reverse the trend,” said Dorte Krak, CEO of Arp-Hansen Hotel Group and chair of the government-appointed Growth Team for Tourism and Experience Economy which wrote the report.
The “growth team” makes eight recommendations for improvements – for example that 10,000 tourist industry employees should be sent for further training in good service.
On the whole, tourists feel that Denmark cannot justify its high prices, which are currently 30% to 42% higher than the EU average.
