Czech Airlines strengthens Russia flights

Move goes against the grain amidst Russian crisis
As other airlines cut routes to Russia as the economic crisis there deepens, such as SAS dropping its Moscow route and Air Berlin halting flights to Russia in 2016, Czech Airlines is adding frequencies.
The Czech flag carrier will add one weekly flight from Prague to the Russian cities of St Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Rostov-on-Don and Samara starting this winter, the Interfax news agency reports.
Czech Airlines’ commercial director Yan Tot is confident that demand for travel between Russia and the Czech Republic is improving.
“We are seeing stabilisation and consolidation of the market in Russia, as well as gradual change to the negative trend in demand for flights to the Czech Republic, which fell sharply last year,” he said.
In an effort to keep passengers flying, Czech Airlines has also cut the cost of tickets for Russian travellers by 20-25% since the start of 2015, Interfax says.
