Still no evidence to link crash to terrorism
The battered flight data recorder of crashed EgyptAir flight MS804 has been successfully repaired, Egyptian authorities say. Meanwhile, French investigators have opened a manslaughter investigation into the crash of the Paris-Cairo flight and why it came down in the Mediterranean.
The plane’s two recorders – one with flight data, the other with voice recordings from the cockpit – had been given to French experts after being recovered from the sea after Egyptian investigators could not access their contents. The repaired recorder is now being be returned to Cairo for analysis.
The plane crashed on May 19 killing all 66 people on board. There is still no evidence to link it to terrorism; the pilots made no distress call and no terror group has claimed responsibility.
