Copenhagen Airport is the most efficient in Europe
For the 12th time in 14 years, Copenhagen Airport has won an award for being the most efficient in Europe, which it says is vital for attracting new airlines and new routes.
The airport says that the Air Transport Research Society award is recognition for its collaboration with airlines and other companies on efficient operations and digital solutions, in running 750 take-offs and landings, 80,000 passengers, 35,000 pieces of luggage every day.
“We’re really proud to win the award as Europe’s most efficient airport – and it’s largely down to our highly skilled employees,” said Thomas Woldbye, the Danish hub’s chief executive. “We slog hard every day to run an efficient and attractive airport.”
He added: “Scandinavia is a high-cost region, including for airlines. We need to be efficient to keep overall costs down.”
Woldbye said that “the fact that the Danes are so digital has meant that we’ve been able to develop digital possibilities better than many of our airport colleagues around Europe,” stressing that “optimising and automising” is one of the reasons why Copenhagen once again won the award.
