Strong growth registered in month of September
Copenhagen Airport set a new record for the month of September at almost 2.5 million passengers, a rise of 6.1%. It is also the first time CPH has topped the 20 million passenger mark after the first nine months of the year (up 2%).
“We had a strong month in September, with traffic growing on both long-haul and European routes,” said Thomas Woldbye, CEO of Copenhagen Airports A/S. “More routes and higher frequencies mean we are able to attract more tourists and business travellers to Denmark, and the number of incoming travellers has increased.”
European traffic was up by 7% in September, international traffic by 4.4%. Domestic traffic fell by 3.3% due to a drop in capacity, including on the biggest domestic route to Aalborg. Transfer traffic was down by 2.3%.
Meanwhile, CPH is preparing to start construction work on a new long-haul pier. The airport is looking for an engineering company to manage the construction of the new Pier E for large aircraft. The work will take three years and cost DKK 400 million (€54 million) to build.
