Solid growth in domestic and intercontinental traffic
The year for air travel is already off to a good start in Sweden. Now Copenhagen Airport has revealed its stats for January, with almost 1,981,252 people travelling through CPH during the month, up 5.6% year-on-year.
European traffic grew by 5.4%, almost the same as intercontinental traffic, which grew by 5.5%, partly due 22 new routes opening last year. Overall, London remains the most popular destination, with 180,185 travellers, 7% more than in the same month in 2015.
Domestic traffic is also growing strongly, up 7.3% during the month, driven in particular by a 13.5% increase on the route between Aalborg and Copenhagen, Denmark’s busiest domestic route.
DAT has just announced it will be adding two more daily flights from Midtjylland Airport to Copenhagen, taking the total to ten.
Traffic to Sønderborg grew by 34% in January, and there were 11.9% more travellers between Central Jutland and Copenhagen.
