From 23-27 August 2016, the Lithuanian Sports University in Kaunas will host the 28th Symposium of the International Council for Physical Activity and Fitness Research (ICPAFR). The event will gather up to 100 experts in physical activity and fitness from different countries.
Founded in 1964, the ICPAFR is one of the oldest scientific organisations in the world that serves to promote quality of life and creative potential through physical activity and fitness.
Since its establishment, the ICPAFR has held 27 international Symposia in more than 15 different countries. CONVENE played a critical role in the decision to host this year’s ICPAFR Symposium in Kaunas; both by attracting the Council to the region and by helping them identify a city and venue to suit their unique needs. Franco Viviani, the ACPAFR’s President, attended the 2014 edition of CONVENE and has since been working closely with the Vilnius Convention Bureau and the Lithuanian Sports University to plan the 2016 Symposium in Kaunas.
Another important scientific event to be hosted by the Lithuanian Sports University is the 9th Conference of the Baltic Sport Science Society (BSSS) taking place on April 27–29 2016. The Conference, entitled, “Current Issues and New Ideas in Sport Science,” will focus on integrating sport science into the broader family of sciences and overcoming the challenges posed by the disappearance of boundaries among the major sciences. Founded by the four leading Baltic Universities in sport science in 2009, the BSSS aims to promote the development and enhance the quality of sport science in the Baltic States.
