Green Globe certifies Club Med Peisey-Vallandry, France

Green Globe has announced certification of Club Med Peisey-Vallandry in the Tarentaise Valley in the French Alps.

This resort is the 25th Club Med Village to receive certification for its sustainability achievements. The company aims to have all of its villages certified within the next two years.

Green Globe Certification’s CEO, Guido Bauer, said, “We are pleased to announce certification of the French ski resort Club Med Peisey-Vallandry. Reducing its ecological footprint is a major concern of Club Med, and the company constantly strives to improve its sustainability performance and ensure cutting-edge management in this vital area. Club Med’s properties all have waste management, as well as water and energy management systems, in place that monitor and optimize consumption of those resources. In addition, Club Med embraces cultural diversity and aims to always enhance the quality of its customer service.”

Majid Kiani, Green Globe Coordinator for Club Med Peisey-Vallandry, said, “Achieving this certification rewards the dedication of the whole team. Each team member has demonstrated great interest in the ‘green’ activities of this Club Med Village and has become so much more skilled at sustainable operations. Club Med Peisey-Vallandry could not have achieved this goal without our team.”

Club Med Peisey-Vallandry uses an automatic management system to optimize heating, light, and ventilation; sorts and recycles waste in all public and private areas; and purchases local products for its restaurant. The hotel provides guests with information about local culture, the natural environment, and Club Med’s “green” practices. As the hotel offers several hiking programs in the area, guests are offered detailed education and information about the region’s alpine flora and fauna. Guests are also advised on how to use water and energy in a responsible way.

The French ski resort, at an altitude of 5,250 feet, is part of the Paradiski area, with access to 425 km of downhill skiing and 475 individual pistes served by 141 ski lifts. The resort is located at the entrance to the Vanoise National Park which is bordered by several large ski resorts including Tignes, Val-d’Isere, and Les Arcs. The park is well-known for its population of alpine ibex and chamois, alpine marmot, Eurasian lynx, mountain hare, and stoat. Birds include bearded vulture, golden eagle, and black grouse.
