Hodsock Priory, located near Blyth, on the border of North Nottinghamshire and South Yorkshire is this year hosting a programme of summer events which encompasses superb outdoor theatre performances and a chance to see behind the scenes of the ancestral home of The Buchanan family.
“From Bluebells to the Tales of Beatrix Potter and the ‘Secrets of Hodsock’ to the Sword in the Stone, there is something for young and old,” said George Buchanan ninth generation resident and general manager of Hodsock Priory. “Our programme of summer 2012 events really is embracing a typically British tradition - in that we are naturally an inquisitive nation so we are opening our doors for an intriguing look behind the scenes here at Hodsock. Couple that with outdoor theatre performances – come rain or shine – and we really do have something for everyone to enjoy this summer.”
Hodsock Priory can also cater for those wanting to stay in the county through its five star rated Courtyard accommodation. The Courtyard is a sympathetic restoration of the old dairy on the 800 acre Hodsock estate, it boasts 10 magnificently designed self-catering suites ideal for those wanting a little bit of luxury in a rural setting. The estate is surrounded by heritage and family attractions and connects to miles of cycle and bridle paths. It’s a great base for exploring Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire.
“We are delighted to be offering such interesting events this year and are thrilled to be able to welcome day visitors, those wanting to have a short break or alternatively use us as a base for exploring this delightful part of the country,” said George. “Ticket sales for all our events are going well and we urge you to discover this special corner of England for yourself.”
