Many of Hotelbeds Group’s source markets favouring Turkey

There is a strong recovery in hotel bookings for Turkey, claims Hotelbeds Group, a global travel distributor of accommodation and ancillary products for the global travel industry.

The ‘total transaction value’ of reservations at hotels via the group’s platform from its more than 120 source markets has risen by 40% since October 1, while Turkey has improved its position in the EMEA region to ninth place from 11th in terms of the most booked destination.

Who’s booking?
Among the nationalities making the bookings, a sharp return in the number of British travellers to Turkey has been recorded, who now make up the single largest source of bookings via the Hotelbeds Group platform.

Germany is in second place, while third is Saudi Arabia, which has seen a particularly strong increase in bookings since the start of October.

“Since the beginning of the new financial year on October 1, we have noticed a clear recovery of Turkey as a destination for all of our group’s businesses, including Tourico Holidays and GTA that have recently joined us,” said Sam Turner, responsible for sales and sourcing at Hotelbeds.

“We feel this is due to the general travelling public feeling that stability has once again returned to the country. However, other source markets such as Saudi Arabia and Iran have grown strongly, and whilst the numbers are much smaller, we have nonetheless seen a doubling in the number of Spaniards reserving hotels for the destination.”
