Small and intermediate twin-aisle planes to dominate

China will need 5,260 new passenger aircraft by 2031, valued at $670 billion, Boeing has forecast. The US aircraft manufacturer expects the fast-evolving Asian nation to soon become the second biggest single market for new commercial planes. Small and intermediate twin-aisle planes like the Boeing 787 and 777 will dominate future deliveries to China, Boeing says, but tourism growth will also fuel demand for single-aisles.
“We expect Chinese carriers to experience rapid international expansion over the next 20 years, with an annual increase rate of 8.9% on average,” explained Randy Tinseth, Boeing’s marketing vice president for commercial aircraft. Boeing has upped its forecast for India too, which will need 1,450 new planes by 2031.
