Centara expands in Phuket with “value” hotel

Property to be built within Laguna resort complex

The Thai hotel company Centara Hotels & Resorts has signed a management contract with Adler Group for what will be its eighth property in Phuket.

The new-build Centara Laguna Resort Phuket is destined for an August 2016 opening. It will be the group’s second Centara value-brand hotel, the first being the Centara Ashlee Hotel Patong, and will be built within the Laguna resort complex.

“The Laguna resort complex is one of Thailand’s great tourism success stories, and we are delighted to be opening a hotel in this part of Phuket,” Thirayuth Chirathivat, chief executive of Centara Hotels & Resorts, said.

The company has a strategic expansion plan for Phuket, Centara’s senior vice president for sales and marketing, Chris Bailey, says. The group currently has four different brands there to cater for specific market segments.

“We have at present properties in Patong, Karon Beach, Kata Beach and Mai Khao Beach. We also have a resort at Khao Lak, and two in Krabi,” he said. “Opening a new resort at Laguna gives us extra strength in the southern Thailand market and extends our range in the value sector.”
