More than 100 check-in counters working again
Six weeks after suicide bombers killed 16 people at Brussels Airport, the departure hall there has partially reopened.
On Monday, 111 check-in counters reopened in the hall and another 36 in a temporary building. That takes departure capacity back to more than 80% of what it was before the attacks.
“The reopening is an important moment for the entire airport community and for Belgium,” said Arnaud Feist, Brussels Airport Company’s chief executive.
The suicide bombers detonated suitcase bombs in the departure hall on March 22, before another blew himself up on a metro in the city, killing 32 people in all.
