Congo’s Korongo Airlines ready to launch in April, after long delay
Several years after its originally planned launch, the Lubumbashi-based Korongo Airlines (ZC) is now expected to start operations in April. The new carrier is a joint venture between SN Airholding, which owns the Africa-focused Brussels Airlines, and Groupe George Forrest International. SN Airholding owns 70%. The new airline plans to launch domestic and international routes and has received all the necessary licenses and certificates from the Congolese authorities. It also has the go-ahead to import two of Brussels Airlines’ BAe 146-200s and one Boeing 737-300.
Projected routes include Lubumbashi-Kinshasa, which will eventually connect to Brussels, and Lubumbashi-Johannesburg, Lubumbashi-Mbuji and Lubumbashi-Kolwezi.
