Booking sites get boost from festivals


Festivals are a draw for travellers in 2013

Festivals in Europe are proving to be lucrative events for online travel agencies and accommodation booking sites like LateRooms.com, which says it has seen bookings to Croatia increase by as much as 1500% so far in 2013. It attributes the rise to its publicity linked with the INMusic Festival.
LateRooms points to the Optimus Alive! festival for a 325% bookings rise in Lisbon, the Primavera Festival for a 116% increase in sales in Porto and the Exit Festival for a 54% boost to bookings for rooms in Serbia.
European festivals are becoming hugely popular for people from countries like the UK to visit as they win well-known headline acts. The festivals are combined with short holiday breaks.
Lynda Matthews, LateRooms.com’s offline marketing manager, says that “2013 is going to be extremely profitable for hotels near European festival sites”.
