Boeing launches “most efficient jetliner ever”

787-10 Dreamliner launched at Paris Air Show

Boeing has launched the 787-10 Dreamliner, the third member of the 787 family, at the 2013 Paris Air Show, with commitments for over 100 of the planes so far from five customers. Singapore Airlines has committed to 30 of the 787-10s, United Airlines to 20, British Airways to 12, Air Lease Corporation to 30 and GE Capital Aviation Services to 10.
The new 787-10 will fly up to 7,000 nautical miles (12,964 km), with seating for between 300 and 330 passengers. The second member of the family, the 787-9, is currently in final assembly at Boeing’s Washington State base and is scheduled to make its first flight later this year.
Boeing says that the 787-10 will be “the most efficient jetliner in history” with “unmatched” operating economics”.
“The 787-10 is 25% more efficient than airplanes of its size today and more than 10% better than anything being offered by the competition for the future,” Ray Conner, president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, says.
