The 787-10 is 5.5 metres longer than the 787-9
The Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner, third member of the 787 Dreamliner family, made its debut at the weekend at Boeing’s South Carolina assembly site.
Thousands of employees celebrated the event, with US President Donald Trump and South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster also turning up. The 787-10 will now be prepared for its first flight in the coming weeks.
Boeing says it will deliver the 787-10 to airlines in 2018. The plane has so far won 149 orders from nine customers across the globe. Singapore Airlines is the launch customer.
The longest model of the twin-aisle Dreamliners, the 787-10 is a 5.5 metres stretch of the 787-9. Boeing says it will deliver “up to 10% better fuel use and emissions than the competition”.
